| Subject: Battle.net Launcher Update Suggests Warcraft 3 Support Incoming Thu Oct 02, 2014 9:46 am | |

- A new update to Blizzard's Battle.net launcher suggests we're closer than ever to seeing the older Warcraft RTS titles working on modern PCs.
MMO-Champion reports a new background and icons for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne have been added to the launcher, though no other support has been added at this time. Seeing as Blizzard revealed last year a team is hard at work on bringing the older strategy games to modern PCs, it certainly seems they may be entering the final stages of their quest.
What with Blizzard recently cancelling its long-gestating MMO Project Titan, could a warm reception to these ports mean Warcraft IV creeps its way back onto the table? We've absolutely no idea, but it's nice to dream.
Although Titan was never technically announced, Blizzard co-founder and CEO Mike Morhaime revealed last month the project was cancelled because "We didn't find the fun. We didn't find the passion. We talked about how we put it through a reevaluation period, and actually, what we reevaluated is whether that's the game we really wanted to be making. The answer is no." Source | |
