- The Xbox One November system update outlined last month is now rolling out to all consoles, introducing custom backgrounds, gamer profile additions, the ability to Tweet gameplay clips and more.
Head of Xbox Phil Spencer revealed in a podcast last month that Microsoft is working on introducing customizable themes, background pics and in-game screenshots to the Xbox One. With the latest update, users can now choose a custom color as a theme or achievement art as a background image.
“Additionally, you can use the Media Player app to pick any JPG or PNG image off of a USB attached drive or a home media server that supports DLNA,” the Major Nelson blog post reads. “While viewing a picture/photo in full screen mode, press the Menu button and choose 'Set as background' – your custom image is stored locally on that Xbox One console.”
Gamer Profile updates now offer the option to include location and bio as part of a profile. Console owners can also now select a set of showcase items that are displayed when other users look at their profile. Up to six game clips or achievements can be displayed in a carousel format. Additionally, new Twitter option via the Share button now allows players to share gameplay clips with their Twitter followers.
The latest roll out introduces a host of new LIve TV and MiniGuide features. Xbox One owners in the U.S., Canada and the U.., can now view a “Trending” tab in the OneGuide that displays the top 20 most watched TV shows. U.S. users can see trending Live TV based on the highest number of tweets and the ability to view the tweets in real-time.
The update also adds a score of Store improvements, SmartGlass updates and other requested features. The Store pages on Xbox One have been improved and store categories have been standardized for better browsing. Gold subscription members can now can browse “Free Games with Gold” and discounted content and download via the SmartGlass app. Players can now also restart the console by going to “Power & startup” and choosing “Restart now.” Source | |
