If only it wasn't something you're charged for.

- As streaming services continue to make headway in the home entertainment industry, Best Buy-owned CinemaNow has announced a new program that allows users to legally rip and store the DVDs to the cloud — all from the comfort of your own home. First reported by Engadget, the disc-to-digital program is available now as a limited public beta. To take advantage of the service, users must download a special Windows or Mac client, which allows users to rip and sync their DVDs with an UltraViolet account. Once complete, users will be able to download or stream their collection of films and TV shows to any device running CinemaNow software.
Promising as it may sound, the program isn't without its flaws. Users are only allowed to rip and sync certain DVDs from studios Best Buy has secured partnerships with. While pricing is comparable to Walmart's in-store disc-to-digital service, CinemaNow's rates vary from title to title. The service also lacks support for Blu-ray content, which could be a sticking point for users with robust HD collections.
