- With the looming launch of the real-money auction house, Blizzard has updated its official site with a statement saying it will issue permanent account bans to anyone violating the Diablo III end user license agreement.
Specifically, “If a Diablo III player is found to be cheating or using hacks, bots, or modifications in any form, then as outlined in the Diablo III end user license agreement, that player can be permanently banned from the game. This means that the player will be permanently unable to log in to Battle.net to play Diablo III with his or her account.”
How effective these bans will be at guarding against those looking to take unauthorized advantage of selling virtual goods for real world currency remains to be seen. Blizzard did not provide a specific timeline for when permanent bans would be issued, saying only that it would happen in the “near future.”
This news follows reports of account hacking that emerged following Diablo III’s launch on May 15, where Blizzard recommended ways to improve Battle.net security. Source: IGN | |
