- Microsoft has launched three new apps for the Xbox One today, including popular anime streaming service Crunchyroll.
Crunchyroll is free for download and allows both free and premium users to stream their favorite anime titles. The app is compatible with the Kinect, so users can enhance their streaming experience using voice and gesture controls.
MOVIEPLEX Play and ENCORE Play are also now available in the Xbox app store, joining their sister streaming app STARZ Play, which came to the console back in August. Both apps are free to download and browse, but require a subscription to watch. MOVIEPLEX Play and ENCORE Play are only available in the U.S.
Despite an ad seen by many Xbox 360 users earlier today, HBO GO is not yet available on Xbox One. Microsoft has since apologized for the confusion and assures the app is coming soon.
“There was a minor programming error on the Xbox 360 dashboard today and it has since been removed," Microsoft said in a statement. "We apologize for the inconvenience and we look forward to sharing more details when HBO GO launches on Xbox One."
Back in June, Microsoft announced plans to release 46 new apps for the Xbox One and Xbox 360, increasing the total number of apps available by 25 percent. Source | |
