| Subject: Nvidia Shield Delayed Until Next Month Due to 'Mechanical Issue' Wed Jun 26, 2013 5:25 pm | |

- Unfortunately, it looks like Nvidia's PC-streaming, all-in-one portable controller is facing a bit of a delay. The Nvidia Shield was intended to start shipping out Thursday--yes, as in tomorrow--but the company has just announced a hiccup in the supply chain will move the launch date to some time in July. Apparently, Nvidia found a "mechanical issue" with one of the device's components.

"The issue relates to a third-party mechanical component, and we’re working around the clock with the supplier to get it up to our expectations," said Nvidia's Jason Paul, who is overseeing the company's Shield project.
Just last week, Nvidia dropped the price of the Shield from $349 to $299. IGN went hands-on with Shield during E3 this month, where the build appeared to be finalized. As far as we can tell, the mechanical issue mentioned today is directly related to a manufacturing problem for launch units. Nvidia has apologized to those affected, but for anyone who pre-ordered, the one day notice probably stings. Source | |
